Tottenham Hotspur have made an out-of-window offer to sign a former Chelsea player for Ange Postecoglou, with technical director Johan Lange and Spurs’ recruitment team seemingly getting a head-start on summer transfers.
Tottenham beat Man United in sigh of relief for Postecoglou
Spurs secured their second win in nine Premier League games against Man United on Sunday, as a first-half goal from returnee James Maddison was enough to seal a much-needed three points for the under-fire Postecoglou.

Tottenham had Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert all back on the field against United after their spells on the treatment table, while the previously-injured Destiny Udogie also featured on the bench as an unused substitute.

The comebacks of key players made an almost instant impact, with Postecoglou’s side earning a deserved victory against the Red Devils after what has been a torrid last few months at N17 when it comes to player availability.
It is now back-to-back wins in the Premier League for Spurs, who are beginning to see the light at the end of a gloomy tunnel.
“I don’t know if confidence is the right word but you are right about lifting the mood and I sensed it in training,” said Postecoglou on Spurs stars coming back from injury.
“Not just with the players but even the coaches. We have hardly trained the last two months. We have just gone out there and tried to work on things without putting a physical toll on the players because of the game schedule. We have had to do it with U21 and U18 players.
“This week all of a sudden we have had 20 senior fit players which gives everyone a boost. Training is more energetic and up-tempo. The players and the coaches all respond to that and feeds in. That’s why I thought it was important today that we got a win. We can do that again this week and build into a big week.”
A major talking point over the last few months has been Tottenham’s central defensive shortage at points, with Spurs making a late January attempt to sign Axel Disasi on loan to accompany new arrival Kevin Danso.
Tottenham make out-of-window offer for Andreas Christensen
Even Danso picked up a knock against United, and while Postecoglou confirmed it wasn’t serious, this is a reminder that Spurs are still regularly light in that area with players in and out of the first-team.
The summer will be imperative to strengthen this weak area, and it is believed that £144,000-per-week Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen is a target for Lange.
According to an unnamed Spanish report, as relayed by Football 365, Spurs have apparently made an out-of-window offer of around £13 million to sign Christensen – with his contract expiring in 2026 and the Denmark international potentially available for a low fee.
However, there is real caution to be had with this potential move, as the ex-Chelsea man’s spent the overwhelming majority of this campaign out with an achilles tendon injury.
While the 28-year-old is a player of real quality on his day, and can also be deployed as a midfielder if needed, the last thing Postecoglou needs is a player unreliable when it comes to fitness.
