Jose Mourinho wants Tottenham Hotspur to offer Serge Aurier a new contract, according to le10sport.
The Daily Mail claimed last month that Spurs were looking to sell Aurier in the summer, due to disciplinary problems in the nationwide lockdown imposed due to the ongoing pandemic.
However, the French outlet reports Mourinho is keen to extend the Ivorian’s spell at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, given the fact he only has two years remaining on his current deal (Transfermarkt).
After arriving in North London from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain for £22.5m back in 2017, the defender initially struggled under Mauricio Pochettino, yet, following the departure of Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker-Peters’ loan move, he has become the first choice right-back for the Argentine’s successor.
Unfortunately, the Ivory Coast international has antagonised the board with a number of high-profile blunders, but Mourinho is determined to keep the 27-year-old in the famous Lilywhites jersey.
Naturally, lots of Spurs fans reacted to Aurier’s “shocking” update, with one supporter dubbing him a “clown,” and another adding it is “nonsense from Levy.”
Take a look at some of the mixed reactions down below…
